Two cleaners for three hours means six cleaner-hours

The length of a visit and the total labor used on that visit are different numbers. Mixing them up can leave half your labor cost out of a quote.

Count every person’s time

Two cleaners who each spend three hours on site use six cleaner-hours. At a complete labor cost of $20 per cleaner-hour, on-site labor costs $120, even though the visit lasts only three hours.

Using only three hours would count $60 and omit another $60. Include yourself in the crew count if you perform the clean. Owner labor is still work the business needs to cover.

Use the calculator’s equal-hours model carefully

The free calculator multiplies crew size by hours per cleaner and by a single loaded labor rate. That is a simple estimate for teams with equal hours and a representative cost rate. It does not track different employee wages or arrival times.

If one cleaner works three hours and another works two, total labor is five cleaner-hours. For a rough two-person estimate you could enter 2.5 hours each, but only if one representative labor rate is appropriate. Keep a separate detailed record when different rates matter; do not treat this simple calculator as payroll.

Keep travel time and vehicle costs distinct

Travel labor is pay or an owner-time allowance for the journey. Vehicle costs cover a separate fuel, mileage or parking amount. If two workers each receive half an hour of paid travel at $20 per hour, total travel labor is $20. A vehicle allowance is a different cost.

These amounts are fictional examples, not wage requirements, mileage rates or local cleaning prices. Use your own costs and the rules that apply to your business.

Check time after the visit

Record the hours actually used by each person. If a two-person visit runs one hour longer for both workers, it adds two cleaner-hours, not one. That difference is useful when reviewing a recurring quote.
